Welsh Assembly Government announcement on autism and adults
27 January 2010
Two months after launching Don’t Write Me Off in Wales, the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) has published the report of the ASD adult Task and Finish Group, a group set up to look at the specific needs of adults with autism in Wales.
The report contains a number of groundbreaking recommendations, many of which relate to the issues raised in the campaign. These include appointing an Adult ASD employment champion for Wales, and establishing a working group to look specifically at welfare, benefits and autism in Wales. This is great news for campaigners in Wales, although we will of course keep campaigning to make sure these recommendations deliver real change.
The Government has committed £1.7m over the next three years to support this work, and you can read more about the report on their website.
The Don't Write Me Off campaign urges the Government to prioritise the delivery of the recommendations in the report, so if you haven't already contacted your Assembly Members about the campaign, please take a moment to email them now.
