Leaders of the Northern Ireland Assembly support Don’t Write Me Off
08 December 2009
At the recent DUP annual conference Northern Ireland’s First Minister, Peter Robinson (DUP), pledged his support for Don’t Write Me Off. The campaign has gained a lot of support from across the Northern Ireland Assembly and we're delighted that support is also coming from the Northern Ireland Executive’s leader.
Sammy Wilson, Minister for Finance and Personnel, and Edwin Poots, Minister for the Environment have also said that they support our campaign to make the benefits system in Northern Ireland fair for people with autism.
This is great news for Don’t Write Me Off and adds to support shown by representatives of the SDLP, Sinn Fein, the Alliance Party and PUP. We are continuing to meet with Assembly Members and Departments to push for changes to Employment and Support Allowance. With increasing support from MLAs across the parties this is more achievable, but we still need your help. If you have not already emailed your MLAs, please click here to send them an email from our website
