I had problems with the medical examination that I had to go. The doctor that examined me ignored the seven page report from the psychiatrist and they also misinterpreted a lot of my answers. So, the reports that he produced were untrue and full of inconsistencies. Then, the decision maker still chose to believe them over better evidence that was provided. So, then I was refused benefits and had to go tribunal.
The help or the support that I was provided with was too inflexible to work for Asperger’s. To get a work placement you had to search by the work that you had to do. So, you had to say, ‘I want to be an accountant. I want to do this job or that job.’ You can’t say, ‘I want a placement in a quiet place, or with not a lot of people around.’ So, the paperwork just doesn’t allow it. My dream job would be either a writer or a university lecturer but whilst I’m studying and getting experience, something to do with publishing or in a museum or art gallery or something.
